About Kundalini Yoga & Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan
Kundalini Yoga, also known as the householders yoga and the Yoga of Awareness, is a yoga practice that cleanses our bodies and mind from years of accumulated stress and the dis-ease that comes from it. This practice opens up our energy centers, strengthens our nervous system, and unifies our mind-body system so that we become more in integrity with our Self. Kundalini Yoga has earned its nicknames by its practicality, speed and ease in which it transfers off the mat and brings awareness to the forefront and into our day.
Kundalini Yoga uses asana (movement), mantra (sound), pranayam (breath) and mudra (hand gestures), with emphasis on sound (chanting) meditation as a way to clear, seed and “recode” our mind to create a pathway to our next most radiant Self.
Every exercise becomes a moving meditation. It offers us an opportunity to find calm amidst "chaos," preparing us for our day.
"The element that seems to really draw people in is Kundalini’s emphasis on self-awareness and actualization. 'I’m a different person; I’m a much better person. It has expanded me so I’m a better writer and a better speaker,' [Gabrielle] Bernstein explains. It’s a promise that appeals to creative types and celebs, but also to anyone who’s concerned with how to realize their talents and live their best life possible." --from the article The Ultra-Spiritual Yoga Celebs Love on the website well+GOOD.
