First Chakra

Kriya & Meditation

Welcome to your online class!

The theme here is the first chakra.

This is the ground floor. It governs your sense of security. When this is weak, it can make a millionaire horde, afraid he could be homeless the next day. When it is balanced, it can make a person who has very few material assets be peacefully content, unafraid, and appropriately generous with others.

A balanced first chakra enables us to trust what is here and now and what is to come; and from this place, we can build upon who we are and step into our next most radiant Self. Sounds corny, I know, but it's a real thing. We grow or we stagnate. At the same time, we want to be content with who and where we are right now. When we are fearful and untrusting, we become stuck in the most primal part of ourselves, and this colors the decisions that we make on all levels.

While most of us reading this might not be concerned about having a roof over our heads, our concerns might fall under a need for approval by others: If I make this decision, what if my friends and family don't approve?

We don't think it this way, but there is also the variety of: how will it impact my standing with my community?

It literally touches on our sense of security, our sense of belonging, and our ability to trust. When we feel secure, we are open and capable of learning, growing, trying and failing, trying and succeeding, asking questions, taking risks, standing on our own two feet, becoming a true leader (not attention seeker), and being discerningly and appropriately generous with both ourselves and with others.

Need work on this energy center? Tune in and practice this kriya with Jodh for 40 days! And share questions, comments, concerns or experiences that come up for you during this practice. We do love hearing from you.

REMEMBER SAVASANA

This is just as important as the kriya. It helps integrate the work you've done into your system. Set your timer for at least 5 minutes and up to 11 minutes. Here are a couple of tunes to savasana to:

Mantra Meditations for the first chakra:

The Mul Mantra empowers. It puts you back in the driver's seat to take command of the wind rather than being blown by it.
Aad Guray Nameh, aka the Mangala Charan Mantra, is a protective mantra that gives protection, clarity and guidance from your highest sense of Self.
Aap Sahaa-ee Hoa is a prosperity mantra that helps us to overcome all challenges. This recording is 31 minutes long. Chant it for 7, 11, 22 or 31 minutes. The longer you go, the deeper it works.
Ek Ong Kar, Sat Nam
Karta Purkh, Nirboa Nirvair
Akaal Moorat Ajoonee

The Close

Rather than suddenly get up and on to the next thing, end your practice intentionally by blessing the work that you've done and offering gratitude.

May the long time sun shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light within you
Guide your way on

Sat Nam.
