Gloe Bernard
KRI certified
Kundalini Yoga pulled the rug out from under Gloe's feet back in 2008, while she was living in New York, working towards an MA in Art Therapy. Gloe had no experience in yoga, and had always been a street cyclist.
It was in her living room where her housemate would always practice Kundalini yoga and invite Gloe to join. One day, she did.
"I couldn't even sit properly, my hamstrings were so tight from cycling..." Gloe recalled. "I didn't even like yoga, I felt like I was doing it wrong and I was uncomfortable."
"For some reason, I kept doing it, and I don't know why. And then I remember it was maybe my fourth or fifth time practicing in my very own living room, and I *felt* something. It was a feeling that I had never felt before. And that's when I was hooked."
This was the beginning. Since then, Gloe had finished her degree and moved to Chicago in 2011, where she began working as an Art Therapist in Acute Care Adult Psychiatric, and practicing yoga at a nearby Kundalini studio. In 2014 Gloe completed her Kundalini Yoga teacher training and became a certified instructor. She currently utilizes this certification teaching in an Adult Mental Health Facility to the residents as part of a multi-disciplinary trauma informed recovery program. Gloe also teaches staff at the hospital, encouraging the mental health community to engage in self-care practices. In addition to yoga, Gloe is a board certified art therapist and facilitates creative art therapy sessions with her clients.
